Gripping, thrilling and expect the unexpected!
I have absolutely loved this entire series so far and it is fast becoming one of my overall favourites! I thoroughly enjoyed this book although I did find it slightly difficult to fully get into at the start, especially Lancelet’s rejections of Morgan and the physical separation of the two main love interests, Draven and Morgan, however once I was past this and got into the book I could not put it down just like the previous two.
Once again, I was very impressed with Draven and his complete unwavering adoration for Morgan (I particularly loved his journey across land and sea for her) and I am so so glad this is now recognised and reciprocated by Morgan, her character development in this book has always been nothing short of wonderful now that she finally saw what we as readers have been seeing of their relationship which has put her and Draven on the same page.
Again, there was some great LGBTQ+ representation in this book and I really enjoyed the inclusion of a sweet, endearing LGBTQ+ relationship- we need more of these, particularly in the fantasy genre where there is no rules and the possibilities are endless.
Finally, I was not prepared for the amount of heart wrenching and bittersweet moments in this book, particularly the loss of the beloved Merlin and especially not so soon after the loss of little Beks in ending of the previous book (which I did not think could be topped) but Briar Boleyn once again had me in tears.
Thank you Briar Boleyn, I cannot wait for the next book and I would love to read it as soon as possible!
